ZenFit's Turkish Delight

Wow what an experience and it still feels like a dream.

ZenFit's first foreign Yoga retreat was a success and is the first of many!

When planning this retreat, I always wanted to get the balance right of Yoga, time to switch off and relax, time to explore the local area, to holiday and to have some well needed self care. And we certainly covered it all!

Here is a little insight of what we got up to on our blissful Yoga holiday…

The day started at 7.15am with a morning Yoga practice, including traditional Yoga poses , sun salutations and sequencing along with breath work, meditation and setting intentions for the day.

We then went on to a relaxed slow breakfast where there was a beautiful spread of traditional Turkish breakfast options including, honey, yoghurt, fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, olives, different delicious pastes and spreads, cereals, eggs and of course Çay (Turkish tea)! :) We could spend a good hour and half to 2 hours (!) just enjoying a slow breakfast, chatting and taking in the quiet and beautiful views around Sedir Resort.

After breakfast, the day was at leisure, you could relax by the pool, go for a refreshing swim, read or pop into the local town either a 25 minute walk or hop onto the resorts shuttle.

The beautiful town was right on the river. This was where you could find all the boats that can take you out for the day on a trip to beach bays, caves, turtle beach, mud baths and Kaunos, the ruins of the ancient city Caria.

Also, in town you can find many restaurants and cafes, serving lots of different food to suit anyone and in the back streets, there were more traditional Turkish meals, serving Turkish mezes and pide. There are great shops, where you can purchase lots of souvenirs, gifts and clothes and bag shops, selling of course,

'genuine fakes'!

Saturday is market day in Dalyan, which is a great time to experience a local market with clothing and incredible fruit and vegetables! The smell, atmosphere and colour is something you must experience when visiting Turkey.

Back at the beautiful Sedir resort, it is peaceful, tranquil and the luscious gardens are well kept. You can easily find a quiet spot, like in a hammock, to have a bit of privacy, read or have a siesta!

In the late afternoon or on 2 nights in the evening, we met as a group for another Yoga session. These sessions were different each day, exploring a different side to our practice. We did Yin yoga, myofascial release with balls, body tapping, stretch and tone using resistance bands, moon Yoga and meditation. This was a good time to try out something different, have some fun and wind down ready for the evening.

Evenings were a time to head into town for dinner or enjoy the delicious set meal at resort or one night we went to a near by local Turkish restaurant in the woodlands. The evenings were a great time to try different fresh Turkish food and have time to socialise with each other.

The accommodation and Sedir was perfect. Simple but comfortable, private, quiet and clean. This enabled you to feel relaxed and at ease. One thing to point out though is to be prepared with mosquito spray, mosquito room plug ins and maybe grab a tube of 'Stilex' a Turkish mosquito bite gel from the local pharmacy. This is to be expected in such a well kept, lush and open resort so, as long as you are prepared, it won't be a problem.

6 relaxed days passed and we all felt at ease, calm, connected and well nourished.

Sounds like something you need or would like to experience? Why not join us in 2023!?
